Mining Fleet Management

Measure, Diagnose and Quantify your Fleet Performance

ABOUT THIS COURSE

Course Overview

Your fleet has more capacity than you're using. This course teaches you how to find it and prove it to management.

Most engineers and supervisors can name their KPIs. Very few can actually calculate them, interpret them, and turn them into a business case the mine manager will fund. That gap is exactly what separates people who get promoted from people who stay where they are. That is what this course closes.

Over five modules, you'll master the three numbers that govern truck-shovel performance (availability, utilisation, and use of availability) not as definitions to memorise, but as tools to use every week. You'll learn the mining time model that accounts for every minute of a shift, diagnose what a UoA below 75% is really telling you and structure a one-page business case that translates lost productivity into daily dollars.

This is the foundational course in the Mining Academy curriculum. It feeds directly into Load & Haul Performance and anchors the Open Pit Productivity Bundle.

By the end you'll be able to: calculate the core fleet KPIs from first principles, apply the time model to any shift, identify the top causes of UoA loss on your own site, build a basic fleet dashboard, and present a funded business case for a productivity initiative.
